Join our scientific expeditions and visit the underwater nurseries and transplant sites where Oceanus is actively restoring the Mexican Caribbean reef.
From a first observation dive to active participation in colony transplanting. Each option adapts to your experience level and goals.
Level 1
Ideal for recreational divers and snorkelers. Visit the underwater nurseries and restored reef accompanied by an Oceanus marine biologist. See firsthand the methodology and the current state of the sites.
Level 2
For divers with PADI/NAUI/CMAS certification, minimum Open Water. You actively take part in field activities: nursery maintenance, colony counts and recording of survival and growth data.
Level 3
The most complete experience. Under the supervision of our scientific team, you take part directly in transplanting colonies to the reef. You'll receive a follow-up report for each colony you plant.
Expeditions take place at Oceanus active sites. Each site's availability varies by season and ongoing restoration activity.
All Oceanus expeditions are operated in collaboration with Blu Option, a certified dive center with extensive experience in the Mexican Caribbean and a commitment to marine conservation.
Blu Option guarantees the highest safety standards on every dive, providing certified equipment, professional dive guides and vessels suited to scientific reef work.
For the observation expedition, knowing how to snorkel is enough. The scientific and transplant expeditions require a minimum Open Water certification (PADI, NAUI, CMAS or equivalent).
You must complete the standard diving medical form (DAN Medical Statement). People with cardiovascular or pulmonary conditions must provide medical clearance.
Expeditions are organized with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants. Booking is required at least 15 days in advance to coordinate logistics, equipment and site availability.
Write to us with your available dates, the type of expedition you're interested in and your group size. We coordinate everything else.
