How do I know my donation reached the reef?
You will receive an adoption certificate with the restoration site name and GPS coordinates of your colony. We publish annual impact reports with field photographs documenting the progress of each site.
Is it tax-deductible in Mexico?
Yes. Oceanus, A.C. is authorized by the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP) to receive ISR-deductible donations. You will receive your digital fiscal voucher (CFDI) at the email you register with PayPal.
Can I donate from abroad?
Yes, PayPal accepts international payments in any currency. For donations from the U.S. with American tax deductibility, contact us at info@oceanus.org.mx — we have agreements with allied organizations in the United States.
Can I donate on behalf of a company?
Yes. Corporate donations include a fiscal receipt issued in the company's name, mention in our impact reports, and — from 100 colonies onward — brand presence in field materials and digital communications. Write to us to coordinate the details.
Which coral species am I helping to restore?
We work primarily with Acropora palmata (elkhorn coral) and Acropora cervicornis (staghorn coral), both native to the Mexican Caribbean and listed as threatened. According to Duarte et al. (2020), active restoration can reverse their decline within 30 years if sustained with sufficient funding.
